Not able to import anymore. I’m getting the “import” option overlaying the “choose a cookbook”. Cancel the import, and the “choose” page goes away. Otherwise, I love MasterCook!

You can only store 25 recipes on the app. Anything beyong that requires a subscription which will cost $25.00/year starting July 1st per MasterCook's blog. There should be an option to synch for those who do not want to use a cloud service.
  • Needs airprint option

Extremely buggy app. One time showed me log in credentials for someone else's account. Can't log in, can't recognize that I am online. Useless!

Ever since the latest update, I no longer have ability to upload recipes from websites I am viewing on my iPad. I miss this feature- it is the reason I purchased the app, and without it I will not renew my subscription!
  • It's OK, but unstable at times ...

Recently, the ability to see photos in MasterCook recipes has disappeared from the iOS app. I'd really like to be able to print a recipe from the iOS app, especially handy if you're cooking at someone else's home.
  • Want to import directly from a webpage on my tablet to the app

I have just started using "Real Plans" and really like the app so far, but remembered Mastercook, so downloaded it again. Some constructive criticism: I really WANT to be able to use Mastercook on my tablet, as this is what I've used on my computer all these years and love it. However, I do NOT want to HAVE to go to my computer to download a recipe. I would like to be able to do what I can in Real Plans, which is copy and paste the address for a recipe I want to import, have it preload everything into the recipe format, be able to double-check that everything was loaded correctly and then, boom, it's in the app available to make a menu plan and shopping list. Too bad. I hope this will be a change soon, so I can use Mastercook again. Thanks.

I use Mastercook for Windows and have been happy with it over the years - lots of features for organizing and printing recipes. Have been using Handy Cookbook on the iPad and like the features and interface for that app as a cooking aid. The problem is keeping recipes synced between two systems and multiple devices. We travel between two homes and would like a convenient way to manage recipe edits and additions between all devices. I thought that the Mastercook app and Mastercook.com subscription was going to do the trick. The app interface is very clunky and was buggy when I first downloaded it in late 2015. The filtering bug was obvious to me on first use, so I was surprised that the app got released with such a basic flaw. This flaw did get corrected in early 2016, so I was hopeful that further development was underway. But no further improvements to the interface were made in 2016 and I finally deleted the app and went back to Handy Cookbook and all the syncing headaches that come with two systems and a wife that likes to tinker with recipes. Thought that I would continue using mastercook.com to keep computers at two locations synced, but a bug in that system got everything out of whack and started deleting my recipes. Finally got that resolved after several hours of work, but I'm sure this would be very hard to resolve if you are not fairly computer saavy. This experience has been a failure for me. The app and web designs look like they were done by computer programmers without any input from users on the needed functionality and ease of use. I will continue to use Mastercook 15 for windows but can easily sync between 2 computers using the backup and merge functions without having to pay the annual subscription for mastercook.com. I see no value to the app unless it goes through major upgrades. Developers would have been better of acquiring a full-feature cookbook app and integrating it with a web-based mastercook database, essentially just automating the process that I now have to go through with my different systems. I'd gladly pay for the annual syncing service, but not if it means using the MC app.

The idea of this app is great. I like that it syncs with desktop and other devices. However, the mobile app is just awful. Hard to use. So much wasted space in the layouts. The header and footer are gigantic and the amount of white space is excessive. You should be able to fit more of a recipe on one page. Won't use until this is fixed but there have been no version updates in almost a year so I'm not holding out much hope. Guess my search will continue.
