I loved this game so much. I love how the combat is based off of your movement and I love how the story can really get to you and make you feel multiple emotions. Please make another severed but with different characters and a whole new storyline. Or you can just keep Sasha!

This game is immensely enjoyable. It gets a bit old to tab around rooms if you tap a little off but everything else about this game is simply fun. The story is also on point by spreading it out through the game play and keeping it brief. Good bet you won’t regret this purchase.
  • Great Experience, but it’s missing something...

To put it simply, Severed is a crazed adventure where you as the player control Sasha, a lost child searching for her family. In your adventure, you will encounter several threats and obstacles that keep you from reaching them. So the lore is cut short, but lore is unnecessary for the type of game that is this Severed, so I won’t give it a rating. [-/10] The combat in Severed starts simple and build on itself over time. The game can be played on Casual and Standard, which alter the difficulty of enemies. The creatures you encounter will all possess different patterns that evolve as the game progresses, and the main way to defeat them is to manage cooldowns and attack when the time is right; however, this combat loop can feel overwhelming at times, especially at the high difficulties. Without spoiling anything, the bosses in the game feel powerful, but possible to take down. All of them have unique attacks and are worth the time it takes to reach them. [9/10] Exploration in Severed starts bright, but the light dwindles in the mid to late game. There are unique puzzles and obstacles to pass, most of them being fairly simple, but once it does get more difficult, the exploration becomes more tedious. It just feels like downtime between encounters, which, in my opinion, are where the game shines most, not the exploration. [6.5/10] Out of all aspects of this game, the replay-ability is where it falls flat. The game is a great experience (challenging if you are on Standard mode), but after the game is complete for the first time, it is hard to keep playing. The incentive is supposed to be the secrets that must be walked to from across the map. The secrets include more rewards and harder challenges past the end-game, but it wasn’t enough to keep me going. I suggest that Severed gets a new mode after the game is completed, like an endless mode. I think the combat is refined and polished, and a mode that incentivizes players to keep playing for the combat seems like a good path forward. Overall, Severed’s replay-ability is lacking, and that’s the most important thing in a game. [3.5/10] After all those negatives, you would think I wouldn’t advise purchasing this game, but the experience is too rich to pass up. There is just enough depth to keep the player thinking and engaging in the “wonderful” world that is Severed. [8/10] Strongly Recommended!

I took a chance on severed, and now I will say so should you. The puzzles are the right amount of challenging, and the visuals and soundtrack are hauntingly brilliant. It takes the slashing mechanics of games like fruit ninja and accents it with a well-made set of lite RPG skill trees and an interesting story. Its kept me entertained for a while now, and there are things in each area that you can go back and explore later for increased replay value. Highly recommended.

An ever-exciting gameplay; unique mechanics amazingly adapted to a mobile game, intriguing puzzles that keep you playing, and a truly awesome soundtrack.

This game took me six hours to play. It’s not a sit through once because it can get frustrating when you keep dying (but that may be just me because I’m not great at slashing!) but the story is great, and the challenges get harder as you move along.
  • Awesome! Well done

Despite largely positive critical reviews, I have avoided this game for a couple of years now, but now that I have played it through, I am glad I changed my mind. Despite detractors suggesting it was overly simplistic and monotonous, I found it refreshing and rich throughout. Despite necessary backtracking I never felt bored, and despite at times it being unevenly challenging, it never felt punishing. There did seem to be an even-handedness in the developers game architecture, in which they sought a balance between difficulty and accomplishment, never spoon feeding but also not sending you naked into a burning obstacle course either! My only complaint is that replay-ability seems low, based on the fact that in order to defeat the final boss, I already acquired all of the upgrades and items. Maybe again in a year or so. Kudos!
  • Fun enough for a second play through

Awesome scenery and fun game play. I redownloaded it after a bit and it's just as good.
