  • UPDATE Service is unusable

    Update 4/26: Since I wrote this, my service has been better. It still buffers frequently, but the downtime went from seconds to a fraction of a second. I think the issue may be the weak WiFi on my original PS4, my newer XBOX One S doesn’t have the buffering problem. So I invested in a WiFi range extender and will report if it completely resolves my buffering issue. Original: I signed up for the one month free trial because most of the shows I watch are on HBO. The content has always been what made HBO stand out. The service is awful when used through the HBO NOW app. Using this app is like being transported back to the 90s with screeching dial-up modems and waiting forever for an image to load. Except in this case it’s the app, which only allows you to watch content in 5 second bursts. Watch 5 seconds, buffer for 5 seconds, rinse and repeat. I won’t be renewing HBO NOW if it continues to be unwatchable.
  • Cannot log in on iPad

    Every time I try to log in on my iPad, it will not let me. It asks me to choose which service I’m subscribed through, which is Hulu, but after putting in my log in info, it says “this account is already subscribed through this provider” which what in the world does that even mean?? Of course I know I am subscribed through Hulu, that is why I chose Hulu when it asks me to choose the provider I’m subscribed through! If I can’t watch it on my iPad then what is the point of paying for this? I’m not going to watch movies on my phone when I can have 4x the screen on my iPad? I’m done with it. I pay for this service and can’t even use it.

    Can’t binge watch shows like Netflix. You have to wait for the show to air on cable before you can watch it. Super lame. Who even has cable these days?!

    The app was great the previous summer that I used it. But I just started trying to use it again and everytime I open it, it shows the HBO NOW screen and then sends me to a black screen that won’t go away. Tried deleting it and re-downloading it and same result. Read the other reviews and seems like the app has been awful for a while now. I wouldn’t recommend it. App Developers don’t seem like they care to fix it.
  • App not detecting that subscription is paid to Apple

    It basically just took my money and ran with it! :) I am not able to subscribe a second time because Apple are more honest and dont want to bill me twice for the same thing. So now I am locked out of Westworld :)

    The app took $14.99 that I had in my account which was fine until it says i don't have a subscription even though i payed for one. Absolutely horrible, lost my money & didn’t even get what I “paid” for.
  • No free trial; fraudulent charges

    USER BEWARE: This app will keep charging you for subscriptions YOU DO NOT HAVE I downloaded this and signed up for the free trial. I was charge 14.99 though and yet was not able to watch anything. Every time I try to watch, it says you don't have an active subscription, please purchase one. so I click on Buy, it charges me and then again says you don't have an active subscription. I tried on a different IPad with a different email and SAME THING. I guess HBO is really doing poorly in life if this is their new way to generate revenue.

  • Great content, terrible app

    I’ve been using this app for well over a year, holding out for an update that will fix its issues. I’ve used it on iPad, iPhone (6S, 8+, and X), and Apple TV. I am completely confident in stating this is the worst streaming app I’ve ever used. This is my only streaming service that can’t make it through an episode of a show without stopping to buffer. Sometimes it’ll let me get through half the episode, then it’ll stop about every 30 seconds for the second half. It consistently takes over 2 hours to watch a 1-hour episode. I can’t take it anymore. My 2 favorite shows, Game of Thrones and Westworld, aren’t even worth it. I will be ending my HBO subscription because I can’t even watch one episode of a show. It’s so disgusting that HBO is the most expensive streaming service and can’t even have a functional app.
