Works so much better than Apple's music app and the many other ones I've tried.

I love this app on iPhone and I love their app for macOS. I have a ton of straight from CD to lossless in VOX Cloud, the app’s implementation of BS2B DSP for headphones makes the world a better place to live in, and when properly configured with proper cans and real speakers the sound reproduction cannot be beat. If you have a real good pair of headphones and a DAC, you need this app. I connect my EL-8 Titanium headphones via Lightning. If keeping EQ flat is not acceptable, it is nice to chain the app’s parabolic EQ with my headphones’ 10-band EQ via the app that controls them. Add to that the inline DAC for my headphones and the wonder that is the configurable BS2B DSP provided by the app, I cannot imagine a better isolated listening experience. It even makes my AirPods sound better when I (rarely) use them to listen to music. As an aside: Using the VOX app for macOS routed through my Audiohub into my Denon receiver for my Boston Acoustics speakers and Sunfire sub makes for a mind blowing home stereo experience driven by lossless music. I was skeptical about paying for the premium plan with their unlimited cloud storage, but 79 albums later (and more rips on the way) it is worth the money. Lastly having SoundCloud streaming processed by VOX makes for a far better listening experience especially following SoundCloud’s downgrading their streaming audio quality. I imagine the same would be true for the app’s processing of linked Spotify and Last.fm accounts and their streams. I use Pandora Unlimited, so I just rely on my solid headphones for that. Two things I would love for the dev team to consider: an app optimized for the iPad, and the addition of Dropbox (or just anything from the iOS Files and not just AirDropped files) along with options for connecting to Pandora.
  • Why?

Let me start of by saying this was my go-to player for over a year now, the interface was smooth and aesthetically pleasing. However I was terribly disappointed to see the equalizer setting locked away behind a monthly 5$ fee. After specifically using this app for its equalizer on a daily basis for the past year, I am strongly against calling it a “premium feature.”
  • Great in theory.

I am in love with this app. It really does everything a digital audio player should. The only major setback is the cloud steaming stability. I find it crashes a lot. Hopefully this will be fixed with some future updates.

Having been one of this Apps biggest fans and I have always updated my good honest reviews. I also understand that what you have to charge to make a profit is what it is. However when I paid for this app under the former conditions I had the equalizer now I am getting prompted for 4.99 a month. That I have a huge problem with. That is taking away something that was paid for. A great app and I am not even saying the current price is not worth it my problem is like I stated. At least have a separate one time In app purchase option for this. I have contacted customer service and so far all I have received is really no answer at all.

request failed : internal server error (500) / (null) would you fix it..? it’s quite annoying when using sound cloud chart.
  • Good, but could be better.

The app is great, especially the cloud service. However, there are is an occasional bug that allows two songs to be played at the same time and there's this weird error that pops out every now and then. I also think that the search option could be better, it's a bit slow sometimes, and I think that when you look for an artist, there should be a grid option for their albums because so far I have to scroll through all the tracks of the albums.
  • Do Not Update

If you don‘t use Premium and won’t lose equalizer, do not update on 2.3 Noting new for me here, only reduce of features, therefor one star for this update.
