  • Will not stay connected to gps

    By Wkff
I don’t use this often but I depend on it when I do. The past few days it doesn’t seem to stay connected to gps, the pointer keeps going grey then blue. I had to use Apple maps to get out of the city, it stayed connected to gps so it doesn’t appear to be my phone. Not sure if it’s an update problem or not, I have the unlimited package also. Data and location services are turned on, makes no difference.
  • Ugliest UIX I’ve seen in a navigation app

    By Rottenweiler
I bought a year subscription under the assumption that with this being TomTom and that they have been doing maps longer than Google, Apple or Mapquest. Unfortunately this one dropped the ball. The user interface is shockingly bad, unattractive, sloppy and difficult to navigate, voice guidance will fail to mention exit numbers half of the time on top of telling you to take an exit that the sign doesn’t even say. It will display the distance to the next turn but won’t tell you what direction you will be turning so the display will just say 1 1/4mi and tell you nothing more (sloppy UI) The information displayed during the drive is tiny and hard to read by being placed at the very bottom of the screen with the text blending in to the map. Small text on a navigation device while driving is not a good combination. Cloning Apples or Googles style of info display would have been more sound. At least display a directional arrow of some kind. Doing anything in the app while driving is a chore, trying to touch the tiny circle dot menu then having to swipe to current route, tap that then scroll again to tap add a stop. All of that could just be a search and when you tap a result it could offer options pertaining to that result. I just know TomTom can do better by a lot than what is in the app. I could design a UIX in Open Source Inkscape that is more intuitive. The navigation part is accurate although it seems to skip toll roads regardless of if you have avoid tolls selected or not. I do hope this thing gets revised.
  • Trusted, quality

    By Q4rl0s
I have used TomTom GPS in very complicated areas successfully in the past. Since then I have trusted TomTom as my GPS navigation system especially when going to unknown areas. I decided to give the app a try and so far it has been great. I really like the real time traffic information and how in real time finds alternative routes. The other alternative I have used is Waze, but TomTom uses less battery, it has less distractions on navigation screen and the navigation instructions voice and visual are better, which is very helpful in areas you are not used to drive. Edited: in Miami, going to the Crandon Park area, the maps are not up-to-date. There was a toll to enter road to the island the gps didn’t warn me of (it took me by surprise and I ended up having a toll bill coming by mail), also inside the park it gave me a route to make a left turn on a left lane that only allowed u-turns (the street itself had already the white lines on the road indicating so, it wasn’t a temporary sign).
  • Overall good. But some stuff just broken

    By Jjfjdjwurmc
It will not use contacts. Just keeps showing a message, contacts loading. It does tend to voice directions too soon to react. Especially when due to traffic situation change and it is rerouting you. I’ve had 1/4 mile warning happen in heavy traffic. Heavy traffic, 1/4 mile, multiple lanes is not doable at times. Sometime gets confuse when you change Regions. Been a user of this and previous app for many years.
  • No list of instructions.

    By mama2one
Sadly the old app gives “poor GPS reception” in areas with good reception so I must move over. The primary reason for my low rating is the lack of instructions. I need the ability to review the actual turn instructions on screen. Some of the missing features have been added to “Go” but the lack of instructions is still a dealbreaker for me.
  • Can’t get 3 year upgrade and no number to call support

    By Bjttg
Just tried to upgrade to new Tom TOm Go App from my legacy Tom Tom USA app and it won’t give me my three year free subscription. The new app directs me to open my old app and follow the instructions and there aren’t any instruction. Looked all over for a phone number to call for help and can’t find one. Really discouraged and I was excited to try the new app since I have been using Tom Tom products for the last 14 years at least. Update: I spoke with Tom Tom and they easily fixed the issue. I used the new app and really like it. I hope to see continued updates and make this the best nav app like Tom Tom has always been known for. I definitely recommend.
  • Needs better instructions

    By Luis__Ramirez
Written instruction need to be more detailed for people what turn voice instruction off and just like to read the directions.
  • No Clue what it wants and why

First: I was one of the early adopter who paid 99$ to TomTom. I was loyal customer and advertised it to all my friends from the beginning, because it was great. Second: I just upgraded my phone and was planning to keep using my application that I paid for, but it was nowhere to find. Previously, I noticed few notification that it is close to end of life, but I could not believe it will disappear. But it did, still I do not understand how it is possible if I purchased and own the app it should be up to me to reinstall it or not. I guess I need to take it to App Store for refund. Please advise if you know how to get it done. Third: Installed the Go-thing, I was notified that it is a free upgrade to my TomTom, but as soon as I opened that unfriendly interface it prompted me Upgrade, Upgrade, Upgrade..? Then I tried to set my trip, this thing said you do not have enough miles for this road... What miles, where I need to get those? Now it shows that I have 45 miles!!?I remember I had original TomTom and used it for driving without these districting miles collection and constant Upgrade a reminder. I also had a map of USA, now I need to think what part of the USA I need to download and for my area I have to get 2 or 3. So, currently I have no clue why the TomTom team took my purchase away without reimbursing. I do not understand why easy and non distracting interface was changed to what it is with Upgrade and Miles. Usually getting upgraded apps means getting something better, more convenient, satisfying. With this Go thing I feel I lost my friend TomTom and got Go-thing pretending to be my friend TomTom but... I do not believe previous positive ratings unless those are left by users that never had the original TomTom US and Canada. I want my friend TomTom back!
  • Almost there.

TomTom GO had a rough start, but I am finally comfortable enough to instal it on my wife’s phone. I find the directions to be very accurate as well as traffic information. I can mix my audio levels with iTunes music, but I cannot with podcasts. The remaining distances to way point should really be in tenths of a mile until you are under a tenth so Americans can use their odometers . I am still awaiting for a route listing which I like to peruse before committing to a route and for anticipating turns in advance. A more prominent compass option would be nice. If my wish list were fulfilled, this would easily be 5 stars for me. If they’re not important to you, it might be a 5 star application for you as is.
  • Can’t take this app seriously

    By Napoleon Bunnypart
An app that reads the street names so hilariously bad should not get more than 3 stars, at best. Example South East, spelled SE on a map is called ...S-E. Eastgate way: East ... gway. Parkway, spelled in abbreviation Pkway is pronounced p-kway (you get the picture). Please, fix this. It will make transitioning to the pay version more attractive. Otherwise, I will use it until I get to my free 50 miles then switch to Waze or Google until next month.
