  • Tsunami of annoying adverts, only seconds apart.

UNUSABLE! Today i opened the app and it seemed to "know" that i hadn't opened it in a week or two, and i was deluged in rapid succession with about ten adverts before i could even check the forecast for the week. This app has ALWAYS been abusive, but today they've simply outdone themselves. Since there are many weather apps out there, I'll just uninstall this steaming pile of cat poo. UPDATE: I didn't uninstall, I have raised my rating to 3 stars (from 1) because the developer is obviously very skilled and the app (despite some flaws), is solid, well executed, and I must be honest: quite beautiful visually. I think i failed to communicate to the developer just how bad it was, how much WORSE THAN USUAL it was, on that particular day. I was trying to report what was evidently some kind of app malfunction, but I let my annoyance get the better of me. Yes, even on normal days this app has a spectacularly high ad burden, but the incident I was reporting was staccato bombardment like I was -pun intended- caught in an advertisement hailstorm (Oh, so many meteorological metaphors to choose from: deluge, tsunami, hurricane, flood...) That day, it WAS unusable But... I think the app is both attractive and well designed. I would raise my rating to 4 stars if either of the following changes were made (and 5 stars -very rare from me- if both) 1) Why is this weather app, like all of the others, so FORECAST-centric? People don't just want to know WHETHER it will rain, but sometimes, when it's all over, they want to know HOW MUCH it rained, or did it REALLY get to 116°F today? How hot has it been over the last 3 days, or the week? Because HE has a lawn and maybe he needs to give it some extra water tonight. Because SHE went jogging and it seemed harder than usual-she wonders... was it hotter or more humid than yesterday? Because weather questions aren't always future-facing umbrella decisions...PEOPLE "chit-chat" about the weather, and its JUST AS OFTEN about the recent past, like how hot was it at noon? The simple ability to scroll LEFT on a timeline and visit the past (alerted by a background color change behind historical weather data) is just a beautifully fluid and NATURAL extension of the interface. AND it would make this the go-to weather app, because people really do want to know about recent weather. Very often it's just a simple "Is it going to be as hot TODAY, as YESTERDAY?", or to silence Uncle Ed about his insistence that the high temp of last week's heat wave was 118°F. Enable THAT-simple visits to the recent past- and you'll get more eyes, and more frequent visits. More visits, is more money, for an ad supported app. 2) And about those ads: there is a point of diminishing returns. Overloading the ad stream can reduce total ad revenue, if visits diminish too much. Exactly where the sweet spot is, in terms of maximizing revenue, is debatable and a matter of opinion unless you run some experiments on your "users" and monitor the effect of modulating the ad burden. And beware that some effects can be both delayed and long term: after a sustained bad experience, some people find an alternative and NEVER come back, other turned-off users may elect to give you another go after a few months or a year. It's YOUR call, but my feeling, my advice, is that your ad burden isn't just s little bit too high, I think it is WAYYYYYY too high, staggeringly out of proportion. Speaking only for myself, I basically avoid using this app except when the need to know the weather is quite urgent. It's for the developer to decide, if course, but my visits (frequency of use) are so massively curtailed by "advert hailstorm avoidance", that you don't make much money off of me at all. I'd rather you made more money of me, but I just can't drink out of a firehose! I'd LOVE to give you 5 stars! Actually, it seems that my experience is variable... It may only be my imagination, but it seems like the ads are a bit less lately. Are you modulating and collecting/analysing usage data? Testing me and others? Bravo! I might just give you 4 stars at some point, but only because it's such a dang pretty piece of coding. But do consider my requests, thank you 🙏

Ads interrupt every other moment and it is too manipulative and sinister. I do not like being hounded into buying a product that should be public domain. That said this is the best “ free” weather app.

How do I get a weather map that I can move to where I want. And one that has a satellite view, and 3D??
