PatternCraft helps you to easily create patterns (for example for knitting, crochet, beading, etc.) and experiment with different colours—something that you can't do with patterns in books or magazines. Easily tap out patterns with your palette of up to 10 colours (that you can change freely and choose from millions of shades), and 180 knitting and crochet symbols, up to a size of 100 columns x 100 rows. Once you have entered your pattern you can then change any of the colours to any shade you can imagine; you can even pick colours right out of your photos! PatternCraft was inspired by the needs of an avid knitter—all feedback and suggestions on how to make it an even better tool for the pattern-crafting community are very welcome!

  • Best app for Crochet, hoping for updates

    By Kamokittie
This is by far the best app in the store for creating crochet patterns, but needs some updates and new features. Would love to have a circular chart option. Please don’t abandon this!
  • Very Useful For My Beading and Knitting Designs

    By Solsticemoon
This app has been fantastically useful for precisely designing my own patterns for peyote stitch beadwork and for designing my own fair isle knitting patterns. It has a few drawbacks - (1) any design file can use only about ten colors, (2) it is not possible to draw a box to select a block of cells, and (3) each time I switch from one pallet color to another, the color-picker toolbox opens. That aside, this app is delightful! Choose rectangles if you are working with Delica beads; choose brick or quadrangle; any color you can imagine is available, and you can add knitting/crochet symbols over color patterns. The grid is 100 x 100 and you can even highlight a row or column to mark your place as you work from your pattern. I would definitely recommend this to my friends
  • Agree with Not Quite There

Would be easier to use if can lasso cells instead of selecting cell each individually. Also would prefer if color mixer did not always show up when selecting a predefined color. And it really needs a undo to back out accidental mess ups.
  • Wonderful!

This app does exactly what I needed it to do. It's like electronic graph paper (which is what I used to use for my knitting designs).
  • Good effort, not quite there yet

I love the idea. However.. 1. To copy and paste a repeating section of your pattern, you literally have to click every single square to select it, which is extremely time consuming. You need a "grab" function for users to draw around the multiple squares they would like to copy. 2. There are no stitch labels to indicate what type of stitch you are drawing. This app won't help you write patterns without any standard stitch labels. Is it a crochet pattern? Knitting? Beads? Is this a single crochet stitch or a knit stitch or a purl? 3. The color selection panel is painful. It needs a quick select function. Every single time you want to change colors, it bops up and asks you to refine the color you want, also wasting time....
  • This app is a godsend

I wanted to start creating my own designs (lettering, symbols, images) and was looking for the right app. This is it! It enables one to see how a pattern you create will look in whatever color yarn you want to work with. You can create the perfect balance of color and see INSTANTLY how it changes the look of your pattern. It has features to create different sizes and print them or share them. There is a mode where you see your pattern as knit which is also helpful. Works very well on my iPad. Well supported app. Had a question on a feature and Stefan got back to me right away. Well worth the price.
  • Not too functional

    By floita
I need to do crochet charts and this seemed to be it. It has symbols ... YAY! But little functionality. Created chart and tried to print, but got message that there were too few stitches... Added another row.... Was able to print, but got vertical columns... Not rows needed. My search continues.
  • Nice Little App

I knit and I do bead weaving and chose this app to design some earrings. I like that the toggle bead mode is available for this especially for brick stitch. I would say it is perfect for me for knitting patterns and less complex beading patterns as the palette is limited. The app creator Stefan has been awesome with quick feedback response and help!! This is a nice little app. As a technical writer, I would like to see more in the How to use app area, but luckily, Stefan is willing to help. And I have been using it steadily for the last day or so and no crashes.
  • 5 stars for amazing response time

This app is great for charting flat items, and the customer service is fantastic! I sent the creator an email and he responded very quickly.
  • Needs work.

Needs some work for the price. The program needs a legend that names the stitch symbols. It needs to be able to export selected symbols and their names so that these can be included in a published pattern. It should be able to export directly to PDF. The files should be able to be saved in a format that could be shared with other users of this program. It needs much better documentation. If a 100 by 100 pattern is exported, 1/2 of the top 100th line is cut off.
