  • Great content, horrid delivery

Slowest downloads of any app I’ve ever used. But if you can get it, the content is great. Despite that hassle, I do wish they would offer a back-issue bundle purchase. I would buy them all (and then spend the rest of my life downloading, lol.

Pianist is always inspiring, frequently just fun, and almost as educational as private lessons. Five stars.
  • Love Pianist

There is a wide variety of entertainment in each issue. I learn tips from letters to the editor, techniques from the staff, personalities from the featured interviews. However, even without all of that each issue would still be worth the price of the publication if all I got out of it were the 40 pages of scores. The range of difficulty, from beginner to advanced, make these perfect for my sight reading practice, and they have become even better once the editors realized that popular song music is every bit as much music as the classical stuff and started to include popular pieces in the scores. My only criticism is that when they publish something they call a review of pianos, it is a collection of manufacturer's advertising material, hardly a review in the usual sense of the word, and typically only of makes and models that are out of the reach of the average individual. You can read the same material in each manufacturer's website, and believe it or not. If you are a good enough pianist to warrant the purchase of a piano costing north of six figures, you won't do it based on manufacturer propaganda. If you are wealthy enough for the six figure piano but don't play, who cares what the reviews say; it's only a status symbol at that point.

I used to pick up a copy of Pianist at the book store. Now I get it on my iPad Pro. It is an awesome mag/app. Love the links and I watch a lot of their lessons on you tube. I'm a beginner-intermediate senior player. There is just enough levels spread for everyone.

The app is very stable. The magazine is inspiring and well written for pretty much all levels. Having the audio to listen to the scores is a really wonderful feature. I have no complaints at all and highly recommend it.
  • Great magazine / great app

    By LeilaniKia
I love this magazine/app. The best feature is the classical scores linked to audio files. These scores range in difficulty - beginner to advanced. The scores also range in date of composition, from the time of JS Bach, to contemporary. Many of the scores are unfamiliar, so it is interesting to find new pieces ti learn. Each piece has an introduction, much like you would find in printed music. Some scores gave much more in-depth instructional material, like a master class. A minor issue - the magazine is British (and I am American) so most of the ads are aimed at British readers. A second minor issue is printing scores - sometimes possible on PC, depending on copyright. Most of the music is easily obtained in printed form, so its not a big deal.
