With Smartphone Link, your nüvi can also access Garmin Live Services** for useful, real-time driving information. Live Services for Real-Time Information With Smartphone Link, your nüvi can access Garmin Live Services for up-to-date “live” information that can be useful while driving. Some services are free when you connect to Smartphone Link. Premium content and enhanced features are available through a one-time purchase. All information can be viewed within the app itself, on your iPhone. Free Live Services include: • Address sharing - Send locations and online search results from your phone to your nüvi, and navigate there • Garmin Live Traffic Avoid delays and find detours with the best-in-class real-time information. Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Still cannot get app to connect (iPhone se ios 11.2.5) to dezl 760. Bluetooth paired after restore. Works fine for Android. But ios version is cursed. Also too bad subscription wasn't linked to garmin dashboard... Have to repurchase everything. Luckily just the weather.

  • Limited Utility

The most useful function for me would be the ability to send an address or POI from my phone to the unit (2599 in my case). Unfortunately if you’re searching anything over 50 miles it won’t be found; as only “nearby places” are available; a terrible flaw. We have the technology for GS. Fix it, please.
  • Extremely hard for use in 2018.

Looks like this people/garmin who offering this app to use, they from other dimension or from parallel world. They don’t have google map app or iphone map, they can’t see how easy to send addresses from browsers to any gps, almost all other applications who has any street or building address they support one click to get address in gps. But not in Garmins Smart link app. It would be smart app honestly 15 years ago. In 2018 it is stupid link app. It is completely useless. I have DriveSmart 61. it is very good gps. But this app really sad.
  • Decent. Traffic very very useful. Good when it works!

1/25/18: Back to the same old same old problems with Bluetooth dropping between the app and my DriveSmart 70LMT. So annoying. 1/19/17: Finally, live traffic issues now fixed. Need to manually launch and/or force close and re-open app if it doesn't connect automatically or you walk away from car and return while gps is on. Also sometimes helps to launch the app and click on live traffic to pull in the data. Seems to be quicker than letting it do it on its own in the background. Not perfect but now much better with bug fixes. Thanks Garmin! 1/16/17: Updated to latest version and its still garbage. Minor update but love traffic still not working on Drive Smart series. Waits for traffic data and only works sporadically. Quality control is taking a nose dive! Atrocious Garmin 1/7/17: THEY BROKE LIVE TRAFFIC WOTH LATEST UPDATE. They made live traffic a free service now but it's worse than ever. Doesn't pull on traffic or display traffic on DriveSmart series hardly at all now. No wonder it's free. Should have left it. It's even worse than it was. Don't they test these updates properly? What a mess Garmin. UPDATE 7/29/16: Working better with the DriveSmart series. Occasionally you have to disable Bluetooth in the gps and then re-enable if you have issues. UPDATE 1/22/16: This app is good when it works but usually after several times of use, it fails to automatically reconnect to the GPS and you have to turn Bluetooth services off on your nüvi and then turn them back on which is extremely frustrating. Occasionally, you even have to repair it with the phone and this is happened on multiple iPhones I've used. Also, the map quality on the app itself is atrocious. It only shows major routes and you have to zoom way into even see anything. They need to update the resolution map quality to be more in line with Google maps or Apple Maps. UPDATE 9/16/15: A mess after iOS 9! Garmin has not updated the app and now it's horrible. Blank white tabs that are unreadable. Also crashing on voice entry when searching. Please fix asap!! Garmin says a fix is in works but may be too little too late. Needs work but traffic is the most valuable feature and provides better coverage than the FM traffic receiver on the unit
  • If it could add calendar access, this would be awesome

I would recommend this product if it could access my calendar on my phone, tap an address of an appointment, and send it to my Garmin device. Right now, I had to download the google calendar app (because copying from the Apple calendar app just copies a link), go to the google calendar app, find my appointment, tap on it, copy the address, go to the garmin app, paste it in the search bar, click on the address, then tap send to device. The workflow is bad I might as well use google maps. I prefer to save data and use my garmin device, but this is why I can’t give a high rating. Add this feature and you’ve got a five star review.

Big problems connecting to DriveSmart 61 from iPhone SE. Traffic and weather info are not available because of this. Needs attention so it holds the connection. 👎
  • Does not work with IPhone 6

Keeps on disconnecting from my iPhone, so I thought something was wrong with my Garmin, then I downloaded the garmin smartlink app on my wife’s Samsung S3 and it works perfectly! So now w just use her Android phone for traffic alerts.
