Description

Named by Time.com's @Techland as one of the best weather apps for your iPhone and Apple Watch. Severe weather alerts for your exact location. Storm Shield gives you storm-based alerts for tornado, hurricane, flood, thunderstorm, winter storms and other life-threatening weather events via voice and push notification. Storm-based alerts help reduce false alarms by alerting you to severe weather based on your exact location within a county. County-based alerts can result in false alarms, warning you when your location in the county is not within the threatened area. What people are saying: • Storm Shield "alerted our family of the Broken Arrow, OK tornado, faster than the TV and tornado sirens." - Robyn • "I was in Oklahoma City during the tornado... we were right in its path. Your app literally was a life saver." - dcalk12 Benefits: • Get voice alerts just like a NOAA weather radio via push notification anywhere in the United States. • With Apple Watch, get a tap on your wrist when alerts are issued for your locations. • Add Storm Shield's widget to your Today screen to get quick access to active alerts for the first location in your app. • Touch Storm Shield's app icon on your 3D-Touch enabled iPhone for quick widget access. • Hi-Def radar map is your home screen so you can quickly see what's going on at your locations. • Long-tap on the map to get current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts. • Save additional locations to ensure family members stay safe. • Closings for Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Lansing, Milwaukee, Nashville, Omaha, Tulsa. **Updated Review** Thanks to the developer for providing feedback. After reviewing my purchase from 2012, I did in fact pay $4.99 for the use of the App. This was part of a promotional bundle with a local station App making the price $10.99 ($4.99 for Storm Shield & $6.00 for the local station). I still stand by the 3 star rating, it’s an average app. **Original Review** I’ve had the app for years (paid $10.99) and now I have to pay for features that I originally had, like storm tracking and future radar for a monthly fee. According to the other reviews, the developer states that those were not in previous versions however they were included. Living in fla I used it to track hurricanes in the past and see future severe storm predictions. Accu Weather App allows future radar. Overall I like the app but taking away features that originally came with the app is a bad apple.

I’m very happy to have this on my phone. The alerts are nice to have. At home and on the golf courses.

I pay for this app & I trusted it to send me alerts but while the tornado sirens were going off in my neighborhood today & other people’s phones were receiving the tornado warning, all I got were thunderstorm warnings & lightning strike notifications. You’ve lost my trust & my business.

Special weather statement…? Just put it back the way that it was, it worked better, I didn’t have to go into the app it told me what the “statement “ was... When something works, leave it alone!!!
  • Alerts no longer working.

I’ve been using this app for a while now and it has been great in the past. However since updating to the iPhone XS Max I am no longer receiving any alerts. Hopefully this will be fixed soon as this is a very useful weather application.
  • So easy to add new location!!!!!

TIL that I can just drop a pin on the map and get the weather for that location! This is SO much easier than having to go through all the other steps, especially when I’m out kayaking and am unsure what the nearest city is. Keep up the great work!

  • Another bait & switch app

Updated 10/01/18 Developer keeps saying they are giving paid users more but let's analyze this. I paid for premium features & now I get nothing more than any FREE unpaid user. So tell me again what was grandfathered. My son is a developer as I said & he truly grandfather's paid users. So I stand by my title "Another Bait N Switch App" Should have truly grandfathered paid users with actual value Free users don't receive. I understand subscriptions are the way now but developers should have forward thought or truly grandfathered existing users. My weather app does better than this now anyway Paid for this app & snow cast a while back which was ok for the little use it gets & now they have changed it to monthly so will be deleting on principle due to bait n switch with no true grandfathering of past purchasers. Not worth monthly fee Imo based on how much I've used it though which is only during bad storms. Being a early paid user isn't a good thing when developers decide to change to new pricing making paid users purchases mean nothing. Geesh my sons a developer & he thinks ahead with pricing structure.
