I'm a fairly handy guy (surgeon) and rely on several knots in my practice. Nevertheless I'm pretty hopeless at learning new knots and remembering them, even though I'm a sailor and do some fishing. Knots 3D is the answer. I love every aspect of the app. Great App - 5 Stars! I really like this app, I have four knot apps, and I use this one the most. As a firefighter rope skills is a must and this app helps keep me "knot prepared". The zoom and step through the knot using a finger gestures is real handy. The author updates this app with new knots often. I recommend this app.

  • Basic animation is wrong

This app animates every knot by adding rope at the end. In other words, not a way you can actually tie the knot. This makes the app much less useful than an app that actually animated knots the way you toe them. Also, it needs an option to play continuously. You can keep hitting the button, if you are holding a rope with both hands. It would be nice to have a list of all knots, but ordered by most useful to least. Alphabetical is not the only ordering.

This is really the best knot app I've ever seen. I reference it all the time for proper technique, as knot tying is a perishable skill. The App owners continually update with new knots, fixes and improvements. Buy it, you won't regret it! Aug 2018 update: very happy to see that the app team is continually improving the app and adding new knots.

I don’t know about you, but I always forget how to tie some knots because I only use them a few times a year. Save them as favorites, then boom, tied perfectly when I need them....and more importantly, need to put a little trust in them.

  • Great for Scouts

This is a great tool to help scouts with their knots. One addition I would love to see would be paracord knots. Our troop has periods of downtime on camp outs, and learning paracord knots and how to create lanyards and bracelets would be a good use of that time.
  • A must for fishing

Learn cool Knots and see it in 3D. Really good app that is updated often. Make a monkey knot already! Use YouTube as an additional resource for finger placement which is many times the best way to go expert. It’s help make me an fishing knit wizard. Additional info on each knot in the app is a nice touch.
