HOW IT WORKS Most aircraft today are equipped with ADS-B transponders that transmit positional data. Flightradar24 has a rapidly growing network of 17,000 ground stations around the world to receive this data that then shows up as aircraft moving on a map in the app. In an expanding number of regions, with the help of multilateration, we’re able to calculate the positions of aircraft that don’t have ADS-B transponders. Coverage in North America is also supplemented by real-time radar data. Coverage is variable and subject to change at any time. CONNECT WITH FLIGHTRADAR24 We love getting feedback on FR24. • Whoosh! Batteries fly faster than jets!

Wow. I upgraded to silver. Yes, the enhanced (a little bit, anyway) 3-D view is cool. "COOL" does not describe the effects on the phone. As the insides of the phone heated up quite considerably, so the battery drained at Mach speeds. Guess I'll need a few chargers on hand if I'm going to use this app now...!

Why would the average user pay a subscription for this app? I use it once every few months. It’s littered with ads, the previous version was better.

  • Tracking a flight is very awkward

Paying for subscription but tracking a flight, which is primary utility for me is extremely awkward so don't know if I'll keep paying. The only way to do it that doesn't involve searching for a flight again and again every time I reopen the app is finding the aircraft code, then creating a filter using that code in the "registration" field. Why don't you just let me find a flight and tap something that says "track this flight". If I use the "route" button the info is gone next time I reopen the app. Or let me create a filter for source and destination airport (currently you can only enter a single airport in the filters). App seems designed for plane nerds, which is fine, respect to them, but maybe also consider the rest of the population with more simple, functional goals.

I use the app for work since I work at the airport, having the notifications when the plane leaves (notification must be set up specifically for certain flights like tail number or flight number or airline company) is a awesome feature, knowing where the plane is when it’s taxing is a huge plus. Of course there’s a little lag between the plane and the phone showing it’s location but over time it’s been getting better. If only you can upload pictures of planes instead of going to the 2nd website they use and uploading pictures there.

This app use to track more private aircraft when it first came out. I’m now finding a lot of the smaller private aircraft no longer visible when over head anymore.
  • Buggy

I have the Android version and I don't have the same issues as with the ios version. Filters usually don't work for example, Selecting inbound airport TPE, aircraft B789. It might filter it initially but subsequent attempts shows all aircraft but not the one I filtered. The 3D view is cool but once you change your view it counts toward your 5 views. I don't recommend this app if you want to use the filter option as it is buggy. Developers responses to comments about paid subscriptions no longer working is unacceptable. It's like reading a response from Mark Z, at FB. Btw. The android version consistently works. Uninstalled.
