  • Phenomenal Tool, after deeper customizimation

    By Aarakelian
Download the OpenLandscapeMap HD from the layer menu > More Layers > Topo Maps. The OpenHikingMap HD also works well, but I prefer the Landscape map for hiking. Google “how to add Google Hybrid maps to Gaia GPS” and you should find a few pages showing you how to add Google maps from your computer browser. After setting those up, you will have an absolutely incredible tool to aid you in your outdoor adventures. The default maps are pretty bad, otherwise incredible.
  • Best GPS app.

    By Cardgenius
An amazing app that has helped and been with me for 3 years now and almost 100 summits. Will be worth keeping an old device around just to use for this app once the updates stop. Gonna buy a cheap iPhone 6 or 6S and just use it like a dedicated GPS. Just downloaded the new app and am going to give it a try. Nice to see they rewarded the people who purchased the original app with a free subscription to the new one for a few years. That’s great customer service right there and will make me happy to pay once my free trial runs out.
  • Good rating after immediate help feedback from developer

    By Sigy827
I had rated this app poorly until the developer replied immediately upon contacting them- they instructed me how to navigate the app- now I can use it freely and it’s great
  • The Classic version won’t import GPX data

    By Chihuahua Chick
Though the Classic version worked great with iOS 10, it will no longer import GPX track or waypoint data with iOS 11. I contacted Gaia GPS customer support and after several attempts to fix this issue I installed the new subscription based version. They provide the new version at no cost for two years for those who already have the Classic version. Now both versions work to import GPX data.
  • Exceptional

    By Jozappa50
Best walking and overall GPS I’ve used since weaning myself off of my old Lowrance handheld GPS from well over a decade ago. It rocks!
  • Still the best

    By bigreen505
While the developer works out the kinks in the new software, the classic app is the one to use when absolute reliability is key. It works equally well on new hardware running iOS 11 and older iPads running iOS 9.3.
  • No need for a separate GPS

    By lindsay906
I use this primarily for bike trips. I prefer maps and knowing my route, so I'm not looking for a turn-by-turn Garmin device that does the navigating for me. However, this app will do that too. I prefer to upload a route, download maps to my phone, keep my phone on airplane mode and use this as a backup. Download the maps and you don't need service. Works great!
  • Hasn't failed me yet.

    By Terminatot
Trail riding is my thing and this app has helped me fond my way back every time. I tap record right when I leave to ride a trail and it records my top speed, mileage and much more. The best part is that I can always retrace my steps to find my way back since it records my path. Before I had this app I was limited to how far I could ride. But now I can explore anywhere I want to go.
  • Why do you ALWAYS need my location???

    By Anonymous980
Why does this app *always*need my location? 20 bucks for this? Are you spying on me? Even if you're not, you're *wasting my battery*. Honor my privacy and spare my battery and I might give this a good rating. There's no way you need always on location tracking.
  • Very glitchy, sorry I spent the money

    By AKham1
I purchased this app to utilize while hunting. I downloaded a section of the map, however, the app was very glitchy and the satellite map did not have any detail. I had high speed internet while downloading. Many times while in the satellite mode the topo map would appear on the screen when I zoomed in on the map. I would be open to suggestions if someone thinks I'm using it wrong or if my settings are incorrect but to be honest is there a refund for this app?
