SkyGuru – is your personal guide in the world of aviation. SkyGuru was created by a professional pilot and fear of flying therapist Alex Gervash. The app receives information about your flight from professional aviation sources used by airlines. Next, SkyGuru combines the data from your iPhone sensors and the program algorithms to recognize flight stages and accompanies you the entire journey. It supports, teaches, comments on, and explains everything that’s going on during the flight, all in real time and in a flight mode. ---------- Available for free: - Aviation weather forecast and its explanations for departure and arrival airports. - Turbulence forecast for the shortest route between two airports. I was very hesitant to spend my money on this app. I did and all it did was crash. Very disappointed.

Downloaded and paid for my current flight. Upon loading my flight the app subsequently crashes and upon reopening crashes again. Can’t get the app to stay open, once loading my flight, more than 5 seconds before it crashes.

I have massive flight anxiety! I (literally) HATE flying, which isn’t easy to manage when one lives thousands of miles away from family. I have always said that if I could sit next to the pilot and ask all of my questions in-flight, I feel I’d be able to handle the panic much better. Enter SkyGuru app. Knowing I had summer flights ahead, I began preparing months ago to get ready for Hanoi - Hong Kong and Hong Kong - San Francisco. I researched tons of options for people with flight anxiety, downloaded Headspace to begin meditation, Dare (book/app) for managing Anxiety, and Flyover Country to ‘busy’ myself in-flight. I am beyond thankful that I read a suggestion for the SkyGuru app. Each time there was a noise or bump, I’d grab my phone to see what the explanation was. At no point did my anxiety turn into a panic attack, because I felt aware of what was going on during the flight. For me, one of the best features were notifications of possible upcoming turbulence. Knowing that this might be a possibility helps me prepare mentally. Further, getting the updates about how “normal “turbulence is truly helped alleviate my panic. I still hate flying, but this was the first series of flights I’ve been on in a couple of years where I felt completely in control of myself. This might actually be a game-changer for myself and my husband, who loves to fly! *You don’t enter flight data until 24-hours pre-flight. Your phone needs to remain steady and horizontal in order to give accurate feedback. Each leg of your journey equals 1 flight (I downloaded the free app and bought a package of 10 flights), but I do know there is a free option (though I have no clue if this one tracks your actual flight).
