For the average user, going on the website will be much better. This app is just too limited on what it allows. Can’t even view my character sheets? Not the app for me.

D&D Beyond in general is pretty great, but very disappointed to discover that the iPhone version is basically just a glorified e-book app. Was excited to have my digital character sheet w/o having to lug my laptop around (my iPad is too old to run iOS 10).
  • Not what it should be

I already own all the books physically, I was hoping this app would offer what the website offers for creating a campaign, and all the other home brew stuff, but it doesn’t. I would be willing to pay for a service but not for a service that has nothing for me to use.
  • SoonTM

The development on what this app and the site should do is too slow. No way to hide adventures from players, no character sheet interface, bookmarks always wrong the first time they’re clicked, and the search function is atrocious. PDFs are more functional with better search and bookmarking. Worse, they hold dev streams that tell us nothing but “soonTM”. And the real kicker? The rollout for Mordenkainen’s was a disaster! Adding new content doesn’t help if the app has to wait 24 hours to refresh!
  • Worse than Web content

Crashes often and when it does work it is laggy and slow to respond. Also, the developer is slow to release content for the app. I’ve got pending content I preordered I can access through their website but not the app, so it’s not available for offline reading.

The app will not authorize my Twitch account. I log into Twitch, it shows my Twitch profile picture, then when I hit the Authorize button, I get an “Unexpected error has occurred” message and will not let me finish signing in. I deleted the app and restarted my iPhone, then I reinstalled the app but the same issue persists.
  • Bludgeoned to death by heavy bars.

2 critical problems: navigation via table of contents and poor UI for general reading. This app is still in beta. However, there is no reasonable excuse for the reader function to be have up to a quarter of the screen real estate obscured by bars. I advise the team to strongly consider having a text only reading option. Until then it is far better to use a web browser such as Safari or icabmobile (my personal favorite). update: the table of contents option disappears from the navigation bar when used in my iPad pro 12.9.

I like the features but when I try to load compendiums they are really really slow... I am using iPhone 6 Plus.

I love this app it works well with the game it was designed to go with. My only complaint is that at first it kept crashing when I was downloading it. But when I turned the phone off then on it worked. Thanks app developers
  • Can’t use the app on iPhone X

I’ve had the app for several versions now, and the same issue continues. Each time opening the app, it remains open for about 10 seconds and crashes back to the desktop. It’s been unusable since I downloaded it.
