  • URL links and searches in the app fail

Links on FB or Twitter will often take me to the wrong article — upon using the search function in app to find the intended article, it will take me to the same, wrong article. Unsure if it is poor URL hygiene or an app bug rerouting to more recent stories.

The reading area is small. A very common design is, when scrolling down the articles, the top and bottom bars should hide automatically, and reappear when scrolling up.

Latest update working well. Really good writers and thinkers at FT. Finally a news organization willing to directly confront the Orangeing of America with clear fact and reason.

Slow and Annoying hard to navigate and read.. could use graphic improvement (surprising how expensive the subscription is) I prefer the Economist/app/user interface
  • Don’t do it! They make it very difficult to cancel.

I am an enormous fan of the FT, both their apps and their podcasts. Over the years it has become my most trusted source for news even though they remain steadfastly unable to grasp the fact that neoliberal economics has basically never worked and modern monetary theory has never failed. That being said, the insight and thorough worldwide coverage by the FT makes it an indispensable publication. The app is solid, stable and designed to be easily read (WSJ, please take note). My only complaint is that the FT does not play well with others. As a subscriber, if I wasn’t to copy an article to Pocket or Evernote, that should be both possible and seamless. The other direction is equally important, if I want to follow links to FT articles from Twitter, I do not want to enter my username and password every time for every article. I am entirely willing to pay for the costs associated with exceptional reporting but flexibility simply had to be a feature as well. Regardless, subscribe to the FT via their app. It is an investment in your worldview.
  • Friends, where is the update?

As others have remarked, this app is in need of a serious facelift. The FT can’t properly compete with the WSJ and other top publications with a subpar digital offering. I read somewhere that design changes and notifications were rolling out EOY 2017.... what’s going on? UPDATE: I understand that changes are in the works. My hope is that they arrive soon and properly reflect that we are in 2018. It’s unjustifiable for a major (not to mention expensive) news publication to invest so little in its digital offering. Need sleeker design, better functionality, more customization, push notifications, and full screen compatibility with iPhone X... to name a few things. Please make this happen! Should be a top priority for the FT
  • App freeze

Terrible app if you want to read offline. As soon as it is opened without an internet connection it freezes and either has to be deleted and reinstalled or wait for a few days for it to suddenly start working again.
  • 12" iPad Pro app needs redesign; props on no fake App reviews

I like the iPhone app very much, but the iPad app has not been well thought through by the designers. Ft has decided to utilitize 1/3 of the 12" iPad Pro screen for large, ever-present advertisements. It's a shame as, aside from the glaringly large ads, the app looks pretty good. I suppose the poor decision here stems from a lack of focus on 12" iPad Pro users, as we are a small user base and therefore low priority. Though until they decide to think more about us, I'll be sure to continue to provide a two star rating. The extra star was thrown-in because it does not appear that Ft pays for any take five star reviews like so many other apps do. Thank you for the integrity there!
