Planning a destination wedding in Maui – I just keep filling up the planner with my favourite resorts and beaches! The reviews are phenomenal. We highly recommend this app to anyone.
  • Content is fine but map is a huge disappointment

This app is a successor to the separate apps for each island. I was a frequent user of Kauai Revealed, which I found to be very comprehensive and handy. In the new model, the app is free but the content is on a subscription basis, at $7.99 per island per year. I am fine with this model, so long as the publisher provides timely updates to the content. The content is very good, as always. However, the interactive map is a huge disappointment, in comparison with the old app. In the old app, the map was based on the maps in the book, with the exact same appearance and content. In the new app, the appearance is entirely different and a lot of the map details are missing. In the old app, you could tap anywhere on the map and see a list of nearby points of interest, sorted by distance from the tap point. This feature is missing in the new app. The new map has a very clunky, amateurish feel to it. For instance, certain features such as trails don't rescale properly when you zoom in, resulting in a bad case of the jaggies. Occasionally, the app spontaneously zooms out to the entire island. The interactive map in the old app was so good, I can't imagine why the developers decided to replace it with this very inferior one. Please bring the old map back!
  • Crashes

Constantly crashes during the splash screen on an iPad Pro. Removed and reinstalled three times. Redownloaded the files. Same thing every time. Even rebooted the iPad. Worthless.
  • Good -Subscriptions don’t work for Families

Disappointed to find that we can’t share the full app between 2 family members, as in-app purchases do not work for Family Sharing. The Hawaii Revealed guides are indispensable for Hawaii travelers and residents, and we’ve bought every printed version of “Big Island Revealed” since it was first published. This week we finally decided to buy the new app and subscribe to the “Big Island” content. The content itself generally seems to match the book and it's very nice to be able to carry the full contents of the Hawaii Revealed book(s) while traveling in Hawaii. One issue that hopefully can be addressed is that you can’t turn an iPhone to landscape mode and some photos are not able to be zoomed, so many of the photos are too small to be able to viewed in any detail.

This is their amazing touring books in the palm of your hand. Having the ability to build out an itinerary and syncs to navigation had a big impact on the success of our trip!
  • New App

I’ve been using their books and the old apps for years and find them indispensable. It’s taken me a while to get used to the new app, but I always have a learning curve when faced with software updates too. This is a visually beautiful app. It started out pretty buggy. I think they released it a bit too soon. But they’ve been addressing most of the problems and their customer service has been very responsive… something I greatly appreciate in this age when most companies’ idea of customer service is to direct you to their forums where other customer have the same questions you do. My main issues are with the maps (the old app maps were so much better) and having the app subscription default to auto-renew (though their FAQs do tell you how to cancel that). But it’s still a really good and useful app when you're out and about in the islands, especially if used in conjunction with the books.
  • Hawaii on a budget

We had a strict budget for our trip to Hawaii so the app helped us choose restaurants and activities based on how much they cost. Highly recommend this to use if one would like to know everything beforehand.

This is a great app to know so much about Hawaii. The photos and details of every location are extremely helpful. Using it to plan a summer trip to Hawaii and loving everything about it.

Having used this app through the beta and then the release, I have to say there have been a few bugs. However, the company has been fixing these as they come out. Customer service has been extremely fast in their response so there’s that too. The content is great and the notices they send have been spot on. I used both the book and the app on Oahu and I think it made a big difference in my stay. Overall I’d say it’s the best app for all of the islands. As for the remarks about the old apps not working, I have two of them and they seem to work fine with OS 11. (Although the information in them is old and kinda useless).
