  • Not ready for prime time

This app has the following problems: 1) about half of the time the caller ID does not display when the phone rings. There is no fix for this. This makes it so the call appears as from a generic number and you can’t tell who it was without going into the app and cross referencing. 2) there is a noticeable delay between the time the caller makes the call and you can answer the call and the time the other person can hear you. There is no fix for this. It is because there are effectively two call setup operations happening. This leads to callers giving up before you have a chance to answer. 3) most important of all, the call is dropped about 5% of the time on answer. It just never goes through in my opinion. 4) it is not possible to forward the number to another phone number. 5) calling from the app to an outside number is not seamless as it requires an intermediate number to be dialed. This is due to iOS security but still slows down the process. On the plus side: A) texting works well. It may be worth it just for the second text destination. B) pricing is reasonable
  • Business use is a risk

I am having many of the same problems with the app on my fully updated iPhone 6s. Between the blank screens that either take forever to load or just never do until I quit and restart the app, to the delay in my contact’s names appearing instead of their phone number, to the abundance of junk calls, to the poor MMS implementation, this app feels like it belongs in 2005! Please work on making this app a little less glitchy and a lot faster. Sometimes it takes so long that by the time I am able to answer a call they’ve hung up. No good for business and I do want it to be. I love GoDaddy (as a era webmonkey would) and this, in theory anyway, is such a great solution for keeping my private phone number private and knowing when to answer with my company greeting. RingCentral’s mobile app was horrible back in 2011 when I tried it, but if this doesn’t start working better, I will have to check into it again or research alternatives or just pay to have a second phone. I have sent detailed answers with screenshots to the email address and Helen from the SmartLine team responded with a very simple email thanking me for the information and saying she will reach out to me if they need any further information, no suggestions for improving the apps functionality or constant lagging yet, but they are working on it. Update: Now it’s actually fully crashing on me after I wait 30-45 seconds for my main conversation list to appear and another 45-75 seconds to respond to me tapping into one of them! So now I have to go through the waiting process again and again until it manages to load a conversation without crashing, just so I can reply to a client who is waiting (while judging my responsiveness) for an answer. Can I port this number to another provider like RingCentral? I don’t want to lose the number I’ve put everywhere, but I can’t take much more of this poorly functioning app!
  • Glitches Galore

I work remote from home in sales and we are supposed to be calling 80+ calls per day to set appointments. I got SmartLine because my out of state area was popular with telemarketers and scanners so I was getting some negative feedback on changing it. Now that I have this number and have given it out. It’s just a pain to open the app. Press dialer 15 times, when it freezes, close the app out, get to the dial screen then it freeze in the middle of typing the number and then where it says hit “call”. The button is not there. This app is so out of date and slow. Always crashes. NOT reliable!! Please update!!!
  • Stopped Working Altogether At Most Inconvenient Time

This number is linked to my website, business cards and social media’s. Of all days, it decides to disable my personal number. I can’t get further than entering personal to link to SmartLine number. It deletes it automatically after hitting “done”. I have clients arriving at airport for an interview, and they cannot reach me via text or call. I cannot even retrieve their text to collect their contact numbers to dial them from my personal cell phone number. I’m advised to wait 24 hrs before calling back while they reset the SmartLine number and they’re “hoping” this will correct the issue. I highly recommend having an alternative To SmartLine if you wish to maintain a reputation in business as reliable, committed to customer service and being perceived as professional.

Spent just a couple minutes to set up Smartline and was using the 2nd line that same day. Love that I always know when calls and texts are for my business. Really easy...highly recommended.
  • Missing Critical Feature

    By californiacoast
You can ONLY forward the godaddy number to your cell phone. It does not allow you to forward to a landline or other number. This is a HUGE limitation. There will be times when you are unable to take calls, and you will LOSE BUSINESS because of it. There is NO excuse for your business line to go to voicemail during the day! This service absolutely MUST enable users to forward calls to another (non cellular) line, either on a scheduled or no-answer basis. Most competitors support this along with additional features for the same or less money. One other quibble: having a giant cartoon godaddy logo appear on your phone screen in front of clients is embarrassing. It makes you look like an amateur. This app should look serious. The service has potential but what I’ve described needs immediate attention.
  • Poor Quality

The app constantly freezes and automatically closes while on WiFi. I can’t respond to customer text messages. I have signed in and out to resolve the issue. This is a business line and I’m not able to communicate with my customers. Go Daddy fix these bugs that me and other customers are having issues with!
  • Horrible app

    By Mistah_sly
Do not use. I have had this service for a 4 months now and it is extremely glitchy. It stops working out of the blue and you constantly need to restart in order to use. I am currently not able to use it at all and have no way to look at my conversations with my customers. If the issues is not resolved I will lose hundreds of dollars. GoDaddy does not have any way to get this fixed or have the info backed up.
  • Do Not Use For Business

This has been a nightmare. I tried using SmartLine for about 3 months. The software is glitchy on an IPhone 7 and X. Often the caller info won’t show up and you can’t access anything in the program it just goes blank and can’t access anything. You can’t even call out. Then customers tell me they have problems calling in it gives some error. I’m also getting strange calls and when I call back it gives an error stating I’m calling a do not call list. However some of these error messages are from verified customer numbers. It’s probably ok if you just want a second number for personal use occasionally but if you have a business it is not reliable. I wish it was it’s a lot cheaper than a second phone line. RE to developer: I’ve called GoDaddy multiple times with these issues and no one was able to figure out the problems. If you read the other reviews here and online this is not unique to me. I would recommend GoDaddy for website services that I still have but SmartLine is just not reliable for me to use for my business, wish it was I don’t like carrying 2 cell phones all the time.
