Description

Why spend hundreds of dollars on an extra device while your phone can do the same and more? Find, Create, Import and Navigate great Roads and track your Touring Adventures. Although Scenic is designed for the motorcycle it's used by many old-timer and convertible drivers as well. It's basically for anyone with a motorised vehicle who enjoys a day (or longer) of touring. ROUTE PLANNING Scenic offers many many options to plan your tours: (1) Select a location and be navigate there along curvy roads. (2) Create a route yourself by dropping up to 200 via points with fast, short or curvy roads to get from one point to the next. (3) Import routes through many ways and many sources. For example: Scenic integrates with the Furkot, RouteYou and Kurviger.de online routeplanners and the Scenic WebApp makes it easy to import GPS files (GPX, KML, KMZ, GDB, ITN) and Google (My) Maps URLs. Simply drag and drop GPS files and copy/paste Google Maps URL's in the WebApp and the route will be waiting for you in Scenic on your phone. (4) As the only app of it's kind Scenic can make nearly every imported route navigable, even if it has thousands of points. (5) If you don't feel like creating or importing your own routes, you can choose from the many thousands of routes shared, rated and reviewed by fellow Scenic users. NAVIGATION Of course Scenic wouldn't be a good alternative to Motorcycle GPS units if it didn't offer navigation. The navigation screen has been especially designed for use on the motorcycle, with large fonts, a clear route line and a screen layout that enables you to see next turns in a quick glance. And of course Scenic also gives voice instructions (in 21 languages). Next to that Scenic has special features to guide you to the start point of a route and skip via points if you take a (deliberate or accidental) detour. TRACKING Scenic's tracking feature allows you to save your touring adventures for ever. With every ride you take, wether you're navigating a route or not, your ride is tracked. Scenic records your speed, the roads you took and the pictures taken along the way. Every trip you ever took can be shared on social media, exported to GPX files and even turned into a navigable route so you can ride it again. * Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. * Scenic has an optional Premium Subscription that gives you access to Premium Features (Voice Guidance, Route Import & Route & Trip export). The subscription automatically renews every year. The first payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of the purchase. It automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged again within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Subscriptions may be managed by you and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings in the iTunes Store, also reachable through 'Manage Subscriptions' from the Scenic Settings menu.Current price for premium subscription is $10.99 USD per year, and may vary from country to country. I have had the app for about a month, twice it has taken me to the wrong address, the final one was an address on a main st. in a town, yet the app led me out into the middle of farm country, over 8 miles from where we needed to be.

I heard the Scenic story on Adventure Rider Radio. So this prompted looking at new GPS units - and comparing I Phone Apps. I like that Scenic gives you a real trial. I downloaded Virginia and West Virginia and was out for about 300 miles and tried various routing options. First the app works incredibly well and takes only a few minutes to learn (unlike Basecamp) via points shape the route easily and I had no crazy circular routing! Second - It is so nice having one device - it’s a pleasure being able to change mid ride with phone in hand while getting coffee etc.

I have been looking for an app like this for a long time and this is app is awesome. I can create a custom route in Google maps and in less than a minute the exact route is on my phone. Thank you Guido for making it simple.

if you are looking for a way to find some curvy roads than this is it!! Be prepared to have to find some workarounds for restricted military roads and for some dead end u turns but they don’t matter if you are trying to get away fro the interstates!. Takes a few hour straight trip and makes it a day of riding winding roads if you want.
  • Great App!

I have used this app for 5 or 6 trips 99% off road. I really like this app. I tried it out for a while before upgrading to the forever version. I have a few issues with it that I have worked around one way or another, that is why I gave it 4 out of 5. Here are the issues I have had (keep in mind this app is mainly for riding pavement). 1. While planning my own off road routes the app often wants to take you out to a main road and re-route you on pavement instead of continuing on the dirt road/ seasonal you have been plotting points on. I wish there was a follow dirt option. 2. Because this follows Scout (a road map) seasonal roads often do not show up or simply end. On other maps and in real life the seasonal road/2 track continues on and the app tries to re-route you miles out of the way. 3. Be carful to check your entire route when you are using create your route because you can end up going down a road and it turns you back around the way you came. This is easily fixed while planning just be aware that it can happen. Other than the items that I listed above, this app is top notch. I have other GPS units and I leave them in a drawer collecting dust. This is all I need.

I have been looking for a app like this for years. Now you take a custom route without hassling with the garmin route planner and transferring it to a gps. It also works better at catching the wave points- no more having to select the next wave by hand because it was 10 feet off the road!

Works great once you get hang of it. Not a big fan of needing more credits to load maps, but such is life.

I’ve just downloaded the app but haven’t used it yet in planning a route but we’re always riding every weekend so I’m looking forward to using it. A suggestion my better half has made is to provide real-time highway/road conditions. It would help riders to know if there’s construction, provide detours to bypass any construction or accidents, and to inform them if the road is decent to ride on. While scenic, windy, fun routes are a must for any rider, it would also help to know if the road is full of potholes, etc.
  • Excellent Route Tracking App

Bought this app to record my daily rides. I really like this feature and the analytical data (Avg speed, max speed & miles driving). Plus you can share your favorite routes with friends. Really simple to learn and can sync between devices.
