  • So awesome, best star chart I've ever used

Although version 6 was released recently, and is really truly an amazing update, I still have a lot of love for v5 of the already amazing sky safari plus. It takes star gazing to a whole new level. I can share my interest in astronomy with my kids, show them constellations, planets, galaxies everything! Love this app.
  • Great app!

I drive by Celestron C8 with this app. Love it. No issues.
  • Great App for Planetarium and Telescope control!

I have used this app on both my old 10” Meade LX200 and now my new 10” Meade LX600. From my iPhone and iPad, from within my observatory and remotely from my house. It is fantastic.

  • The 2017 IAU Guidelines For Naming Stars not yet supported!

    By DaveWhiteChicoCa
There is a big βιg βυg that needs to be fixed but Skysafari is still the best Astronomy App. At this time Oct 2017, Skysafari 5 Plus, does not conform to the I.A.U ( International Astronomical Union) 2017- Star Theme (Guidelines For Naming Stars) But unlike Skysafari 5 Basic, SkySafari 5 Plus has the NGC catalogue in its' database. The first ever Kilonova (two Neutron Stars colliding) was recorded in August 2017, located in galaxy NGC 4993...In SkySafari 5 Plus you can easily search and located NGC 3993 in constellation Hydra. The IAU is the international governing body for Astronomy, Cosmology and Astrophysics. There are two problems. 1 - Skysafari names stars mixing Greek Letters with small Latin Letters (English alphabet came from Latin alphabet) and many English (Latin Letters) are the same symbol as used somewhere in the Geek Alphabet. Compare these small English (Latin) letters with the small Greek letters. a/α b/β e/ε p/ρ t/τ u/υ v/ν y/γ i/ι o/ο n/η k/κ w/ω. x/χ y/γ z/ζ. You can easily see the confusion and why IAU does not use small English (Latin) letters. IAU and all modern Astronomy publications use Flamsteed Numbers when Greek letters not available. 2 - When out at night, using your telescope, you compare Skysafari simulated sky with any modern star atlas, the two do not match up, because Skysafari 5 Plus is using a obsolete naming system from German, Johannes Bayer's 1603 publication Uranometria, wich used Greek letters followed by Latin letters to name stars. Today IAU only uses the Greek letters then Flamsteed numbers when Greek letters not available. Clear Skys to you and me.
  • This is the Astronomy app I have been looking for

  • Great app but I feel scammed

I bought sky safari plus long ago. I figured I owned it and bought it for telescope control. Well time passed and when I went to use it again there is now a sky safari 5 plus. The one I bought stopped working. Says it needs updating to the new iOS. They abandoned it and customers that bought it and supported them. I refused to buy it again. Well Recently I saw it at 50% off so I purchased it yet again for telescope control. Shame on you greedy app makers.
