  • I’m falling in love, but there’s just one thing.

    By Sjmcclellan618
This app is truly astounding. I’ve been searching for a journal that I can really pour myself into but that also has the high caliber features that this has. One small thing though - can it be made to be compatible with Spotify? I don’t use Apple Music in any capacity but music is extremely important to me, especially when I journal. Having the ability to link songs on Spotify would be extremely meaningful. Please!!
  • Meh ... not worth $25-$35 a year

    By xielvas
I really like the app I’ve had it for years but I’m not gonna pay three devs every year for their app especially $25-$35 to journal. I’m done for good with it, Now I’m going to journal with a better alternative about how frustrating this subscription system is. I never really rate something unless I feel strongly about it. Adios #dayoneapp!
  • Well-planned and organized, but I miss the previous editor

    By Benthinkin
Day One’s support is an unsung feature. During the upgrade to v3, my iPad said that my paid premium account was actually basic. Minutes later their team reached out to me via their in-app chat system. After a brief exchange, they resolved the problem without a fuss. I’ll chalk the issue up to a transition bug, and the help up to good customer service. Having said that, as a writer I miss the previous version’s Markdown support. I also miss having a snappy editor that supports hyperlinks. The ability to edit without clicking “edit” is a convenience I’d trade for v2.7’s responsiveness.
  • Love this app

    By Mel1ta7
This app keeps my life organized. I use t almost everyday. It is been fantastic. The only thing I do not like is that the taking a photo in app used to be easier to use prior to an upgrade. Now you can only snap a picture but you can’t zoom in now. It is a little clunky to have to take a photo in the phone camera and then transfer it to the day one app if you need to zoom in on something. You used to be able do this all in the day one app itself. I’ve used this for the past 3 years at least. I also have it for my Mac computer and love that they sync.
  • Bad UI

    By JohnDoeSan
20180917: UI is still bad. I have been using Day One for many years, and it seems that their UI just keeps getting worse. Adding tags is such an annoying process now. The only good thing that has came out of all the updates is multiple photos in an entry, everything else has been steadying going downhill. Reviewed sometime in 2017: It seems like every time they update the app the UI gets worse. Adding photos is problematic. If you recently add a photo to your phone, and the photo was taken in, say, 2014, good luck finding it from Day One. For some reason even though you can see that photo down near the bottom in the Photos App (because you just added it), you will have to scroll all the way back to 2014 if you're trying to find and use that photo in Day One.
  • Very Buggy after update

    By Vince1658
It is very buggy after the recent update! Please fix it or reverse it to the previous (better) version!
  • Central journal toggle

    By Tee565
Bring back the previous layout that allowed easier switching of journals.
  • The new editor is a mess

    By PzGz
Poor supports of markdown, day one is no longer the day one before. It’s a dying app, poor Sync, updates and features are slow. Just cancelled the subscription, but still, fell really bad, since it used to be my most favored app.
  • Does its job

    By psesh
Paid for this app years ago and I can keep what I paid for. All these new subscriptions are weird and honestly probably not worth it.
  • The most meaningful App

    By uuklanger
Day One is a must have app for everyone. Day One is simple to use, full of very powerful features, and give you a complete multi-dimensional view on the events and activities of your world. For me, an entry usually starts with an image. Day One will look at the image and will ask you if you want to use the date/time of that image. It will also look at the location data within the image. Using the location + date/time it is able to determine what the weather was like on that day. Over time, you can see where you have been on that same day over time. All of this is managed for you by this incredibly well thought out and powerful app. An app that you can use anywhere and on all your devices. I have been using Day One for years (pre v2) and have watched them innovate more and more with each release. The App has become an expressive way of capturing everything that makes up and surrounds your life. Over time, what you are capturing is your history. I use it for so many things including capturing events when I travel. As I was writing this, my Day One app reminded me that “one this day” I was out of the country last year. I could see on a map where I was located, what the environment was like, and what I was doing. I knew it was cooler then normal and raining which I was not prepared for. :-) I have never had an issue with this App. It just works and, even today, I find little features that I never knew about. Just the other day I discovered more formatting tricks that Day One supports using Markdown. I cannot praise this app enough. It is my historian, it tells a story, and can come in handy for “word therapy” when needed. It is captures your entries in a multi-dimensional way where it is not just your words but detail about the place you were at when you wrote them. If you travel, work, have a family, have any interests, try new things, are going through some personal changes (good or bad), like to celebrate things, eat food, have pets, walk places, cook, fix things, destroy thing, have opinions, care about someone or something, .... you will benefit form this App. Try it out and you will be hooked.
