Rawr! BlockBear is a really simple and ferocious adblocking app that allows you to browse the web ad-free and reclaim valuable screen space. BlockBear: • Blocks ads (popups, text ads, banners) and removes website clutter • Loads many websites 3-5x faster saving time and bandwidth • Protects your privacy from widespread online tracking (cookies, beacons, scripts, etc) • Lets you choose to block any combination of ads, online tracking and social buttons with a simple switch • Helps you to conveniently whitelist your favourite websites from within Safari using the BlockBear Safari extension • Includes 100% more bears than competing ad blockers Yeah, you could download another adblocker… but then you wouldn’t have a bear.

Back when when they first allowed ad blockers on the App Store, I used Purify. That was the best! Never saw an ad. Now, Purify was taken off the App Store so I had to look for a replacement. BlockBear seemed great as I was already familiar with TunnelBear. Super easy to set up, works instantly! My only complaint is that ads still seem to pop up. Definitely a major reduction, but I wished ALL the ads were gone, like my previous ad blocker.
  • Doesn’t block anything

Worked initially, but stopped. Store tons of trackers every time I use Safari even with cookies blocked and all app options enabled. Removing from phone.
  • Not blocking ads

Many sites with browser hijacking ads still getting served and are not blocked by this application.
  • Does mostly work well

Great at stopping the two scourges of auto-play videos, and of sudden screen-covering panels that ask you to subscribe whilst you’re in middle of reading their article. But I wish it also more successfully halted iFrames or other floating panels on the sides. Nothing worse to my eyes than to be reading and scrolling, but have a vertical tower of ‘next’ or ‘social’ icons hold fast to the side of the screen. Otherwise a solid product, and a nice name. Go Blockbear!
  • Awesome Blocker

    A great choice!
  • Maybe it works, but it didn’t for me

Maybe I didn’t give it a fair shake. But I enabled it in settings and in the app itself. Browsed four of five websites. No change in ads displayed. Toggled everything off an on once again and the result was the same. So I’ll take my shot with another content blocker.
  • Ads ‘nearly’ get thru.

i just wanna pet the bear. like, it would be nice if you could open the app and pet the bear and he’d roar or something. or a little heart emoticon would pop up. i wish i could give him snacks for his hard work, too. thank you bear.
